Turkey's electricity distributors expand infrastructure and launch energy‑saving campaign

TREDAŞ, the electricity distribution company for Thrace, announced a 6.5 billion‑TL investment programme running from 2026 to 2030 to modernise the grid in Edirne. The plan includes installing about 75 km of low‑voltage lines, 21 km of high‑voltage lines, 20 new transformer stations, about 40 km of transmission lines, LED street lighting and the renewal of networks in 23 villages and several town districts. The upgrades aim to provide a safer, more reliable and higher‑capacity supply for the region’s growing energy demand.

UEDAŞ, serving the South Marmara area, continued its "Trafolar Konuşuyor" (Transformers Talk) project by adding a new social‑awareness theme encouraging residents to set air‑conditioners at 24 °C. QR codes on 75 transformed poles give the public detailed tips on energy efficiency and carbon‑reduction benefits. The utility plans to decorate ten additional transformers with similar messages by the end of 2026, linking artistic outreach with climate‑friendly behaviour.
