Turkey's Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar plans to transform Ceyhan into a global oil‑gas hub

Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar announced a multi‑year plan to turn the port city of Ceyhan into a world‑class energy trading hub comparable to Rotterdam. The strategy includes expanding oil pipeline capacity, integrating the Kirkuk‑Ceyhan and Basra lines to reach up to 2.5 million barrels per day, and boosting daily oil output to 600 000 barrels by 2028.

Bayraktar also detailed domestic natural‑gas ambitions, targeting daily production of 40‑45 million cubic metres by 2028, which would allow roughly 17 million households to be supplied from Turkish fields. New floating production platforms and increased storage facilities are slated to support these goals, while agreements with Iraq aim to channel additional crude and gas through Turkey to European markets.
