Turkey's Erdoğan warns against regional attempts to encircle the country

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has issued a strong warning regarding regional developments in the Middle East, stating that Turkey will not remain a spectator to hostile actions aimed at encircling the country. Speaking after a government cabinet meeting, Erdoğan emphasized that Ankara’s calm and measured stance should not be interpreted as weakness, asserting that Turkey will respond to any hostile action that threatens its security.

While not naming specific nations, the President’s remarks come amid heightened tensions in the Middle East following the escalation of conflict between Israel and Iran. Erdoğan also addressed the global economic consequences of the regional instability, specifically noting that rising oil prices are a direct result of the situation. He stated that as long as the tension in the Strait of Hormuz remains unresolved, oil prices will continue to climb, noting that the costs of the conflict are being felt globally rather than just by Iran or the Gulf states.

Erdoğan clarified that Turkey is not opposed to any state, society, faith, or culture, but remains committed to opposing illegality, injustice, tyranny, and any acts that jeopardize regional stability or violate international law.
