Turkey's Eskişehir and İzmir Mayors Launch Free Cultural Tours
The Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality announced a free public walk titled “Mihalıççık Green Discovery and Yunus Emre Love Road.” The excursion starts on 31 July 2026 at 08:00, with participants gathering at the Ulus Monument at 07:40. The route includes forest trails, a visit to a traditional pottery workshop in Sorkun, the Gürleyik Waterfall and the Çatacık Forest, and highlights the legacy of poet Yunus Emre. Registration is limited and open through the municipality’s tourism office.
In İzmir, the metropolitan municipality, together with local muhtars, has organized culture trips that have reached 3,000 citizens across 69 neighbourhoods in the past year. Weekly outings take participants to historic and natural sites such as Selçuk, Şirince, Foça, Ödemiş and Birgi. Mayor Cemil Tugay and Muhtar Mert Can Malkoç said the program strengthens community ties and promotes local heritage, and the trips will continue throughout the city.
