Turkey rolls out 10.3 billion‑lira elderly and disabled benefit payments

In August 2026 the Ministry of Family and Social Services began disbursing increased benefit payments to Turkey’s elderly and disabled citizens. A total of 10.3 billion lira is being transferred to beneficiaries’ bank accounts – 5.99 billion lira for elderly pensions and 4.36 billion lira for disability allowances – following an update to the civil‑servant salary coefficient.

Minister Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş said the payments are part of a “human‑focused, rights‑based” policy aimed at enabling independent living and full participation in education, health, the economy and social life. She also noted that the July 2026 payment differences are being included in the August disbursements.
