Turkey's Football Federation renames Regional Amateur League to Professional Transition League, announces fees andeligib

The Turkey Football Federation (TFF) announced that the Regional Amateur League (BAL) will be renamed the Professional Transition League (PGL) starting with the 2026‑2027 season. Clubs wishing to compete must submit all registration documents by 7 August 2026.

Participation costs are set at 250,000 TL in cash, which will not be refunded at season’s end, plus a 750,000 TL guarantee that may be provided in cash or by bank guarantee. The guarantee will be used to cover any disciplinary fines or stadium damages and will not be returned if a club withdraws or is expelled.

Clubs must also provide official proof that the stadium and training facilities are allocated to them; failure to do so will result in exclusion from the league.

Player eligibility rules were revised: players born between 1 January 2002 and 31 December 2011 may be listed and play; those born in 2001 or earlier may be listed but only five may be named in the match‑day squad; players born on or after 1 January 2012 are ineligible. For the 2026‑2027 season, foreign‑born players are also prohibited from playing in the PGL.

Following the fee announcement, clubs such as Rize Atletik Spor and Altınordu announced they would withdraw from the league, citing the financial burden.
