Turkey's High Council of Judges and Prosecutors issues 2026 judicial reassignment decree
The High Council of Judges and Prosecutors (HSK) completed its 2026 Ana Kararname, reassigning judges and prosecutors across the country, including the transfer of chief prosecutors in 33 provinces. Justice Minister Akın Gürlek announced the completion on social media, wishing the officials success in their new posts.
The İzmir Bar Association issued a written statement condemning the decree, arguing that it is not a routine reassignment but raises serious questions about judicial independence and merit‑based appointments. The bar warned that deviations from objective criteria could erode public confidence in the justice system, describing the situation as “KAYGI VERİCİ” (concerning).
