Turkey's İŞKUR reports 894,000 vacant jobs and hiring of 590,000 workers in first five months

Turkey’s public employment agency İŞKUR released data for the first five months of 2026, showing that nearly 590,000 people were placed in jobs while 894,137 vacancies remained. The majority of open positions are in the private sector, with the service industry accounting for the largest share (485,673 vacancies). Security guards, chefs, automotive sales consultants, call‑center agents and warehouse workers are among the most demanded occupations.

İŞKUR’s figures also highlight demographic breakdowns: 232,381 of the placed workers were women, 176,761 were young people, 19,847 were persons with disabilities, and 112,265 held university degrees. The cities with the highest number of vacancies are Istanbul (185,537), Ankara (86,523) and İzmir (49,771).
