Turkey's industrial sector faces financing strain and calls for agile leadership

Istanbul Chamber of Industry President Erdal Bahçıvan warned that the July Turkish Manufacturing PMI fell to 47.7, staying below the 50 growth threshold and indicating a structural financing problem that spreads across the entire supply chain. He said credit mechanisms are failing, large buyers are extending payment terms, and the resulting financing costs are being passed down to smaller manufacturers and suppliers, putting SMEs under pressure.

Separately, BVN Air&Motor CEO Mehmet Yaşar Bahçivan argued that success in 21st‑century industry depends less on machines and more on agile, financially disciplined leadership. He emphasized that strong minds and strategic thinking are essential to navigate crises and sustain growth, complementing the need for robust financing highlighted by Bahçıvan.
