Turkey's Industry and Technology Minister Sets Goal to Teach AI Literacy to 5 Million Citizens

Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır announced a national initiative to provide artificial‑intelligence literacy to five million Turkish citizens within the next two years. The pledge was made at the 5th Boyluca Thought Camp in Alucra, Giresun, where the minister met with academics, researchers and university students.

Kacır stressed AI’s capacity to transform every aspect of life, likening its impact to that of electricity and the internet, while warning of potential misuse. He linked the literacy drive to Turkey’s broader “National Technology Move,” citing institutions under his ministry such as TÜBİTAK, the Turkish Academy of Sciences, the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office and the Turkish Space Agency. The minister also highlighted Turkey’s strong human capital and expressed confidence in the country’s future under President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s leadership.
