Turkey's Industry Ministry fines 176 million lira over unsafe products

The Turkish Ministry of Industry and Technology inspected 26,310 industrial products in the first half of 2026. Of these, 2,441 items (9.28%) were found non‑compliant with safety and environmental standards, and 232 were sent for further laboratory testing. The ministry issued recall orders for 105 brands and models, covering 45 automotive products and 20 energy‑efficiency items.

A total of 175,898,583 Turkish lira in administrative fines was levied, with the elevator sector hit hardest (106,458,656 lira), followed by automotive (38,649,685 lira) and machinery (10,607,564 lira). The most inspected categories were elevators (9,225 units) and electric equipment (6,698 units). Metro‑logy inspections also covered 359,221 gas meters, 212,263 tachographs, 128,183 weighing devices and 93,768 fuel/LPG meters, among others. The highest non‑compliance rates by product group were boilers (42.86%), energy‑efficiency products (37.97%) and elevators (17.14%).
