Turkey's information and communication sector grows 8.6% in Q2

Turkey's information and communication sector grew by 8.6% in the second quarter of the year, significantly outpacing the overall national GDP growth of 2.3%. According to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), this performance marks the tenth consecutive quarter of uninterrupted growth for the sector.

Following a contraction of 2.3% in the final quarter of 2024, the sector has seen steady recovery with growth rates of 4.3%, 3.5%, and 2.7% in subsequent quarters. The annual growth rates for the last four quarters have remained high, ranging between 8.6% and 9.9%.

Kenan Altınsaat, President of the Turkish Informatics Association (TBD), attributed this expansion to several key drivers, including corporate digital transformation, smart city initiatives, and the needs arising from next-generation electric vehicles. He also highlighted the increasing prevalence of data centers, cloud computing services, artificial intelligence, and the mobile and fixed gaming sectors. Additionally, 5G infrastructure investments are expected to play a significant role in the industry's ongoing development.
