Turkey's Intellectual Property Crimes and Public Health Workshop Concludes
A two‑day workshop on intellectual property crimes and public health was held in Ankara, bringing together Turkish police, ministries, international organisations such as WIPO and FAO, academia and private‑sector representatives. In the opening session, Police General Director Ali Fidan warned that counterfeit medicines and other falsified products pose lethal risks, undermine public confidence, generate tax losses and can finance organized crime.
The closing ceremony featured Security Directorate Head Emrullah Gölcük, who highlighted the new collaborations formed and the shared expertise on combating counterfeit goods, emphasizing the workshop’s contribution to both national enforcement and global efforts against IP‑related health threats.
