Turkey's Interior Ministry reports 3,025 ID cards issued for YKS exam weekend

The Turkish Interior Ministry announced that population offices processed a total of 3,025 identity‑card applications over the weekend to enable candidates to attend the nationwide Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS). Applications numbered 2,274 on Saturday and 751 on Sunday. Minister Mustafa Çiftçi thanked the civil‑servants and security forces for ensuring that no student missed the exam due to documentation issues, and highlighted instances where officers assisted candidates who forgot their IDs or arrived at the wrong test centre.

In the district of Battalgazi, municipal police enacted comprehensive safety measures ahead of the YKS. Officers monitored construction sites, market stalls and other potential disruptions, and redirected a student who had entered the wrong school to the correct examination venue. These actions aimed to maintain a calm and secure environment for all examinees.
