Turkey's İYİ Party and CHP leaders clash over resignations and council dispute
İYİ Party Afyonkarahisar provincial chair Muhammet Mısırlıoğlu held a press conference urging the removal of Gebeceler municipality mayor İsa Atay and former AK Party provincial chair Turgay Şahin. He said they should not remain in office pending investigation and called on the governor, the interior ministry and prosecutors to act.
In Trabzon, CHP district chairman Haluk Batmaz denounced remarks by businessman Faruk Kanca aimed at the CHP, accusing him of exploiting religious sentiment. Batmaz demanded an apology, said legal steps would be pursued, and referenced the United States' bombing of Iran to highlight perceived double standards.
