Turkey's June 2026 inflation at 0.99% monthly, drives wage and benefit hikes

Turkey's statistics agency (TÜİK) announced that the Consumer Price Index rose 0.99 % in June 2026 compared with the previous month and 32.11 % year‑on‑year. The biggest contributors were housing, water, electricity and gas (+45.14 % annual) followed by food and non‑alcoholic beverages (+35.45 %) and transport (+31.15 %).

Based on the six‑month inflation figure, the government set public‑servant (memur) salary increases at 13.52 % and pensioner raises for SSK and Bağ‑Kur retirees at 17.76 %. The minimum pension therefore moves to about 23,552 TL. Related social‑benefit payments were also revised: the paid‑for‑service (bedelli) military fee rises to 472,653 TL (up from 416,361 TL), disabled allowances and the 65‑plus senior allowance increase, and the severance‑pay ceiling is lifted to roughly 73,000 TL.

Economists noted that, despite the modest monthly inflation figure, core price pressures remain high, especially in housing and food, limiting real‑wage gains for many households.
