Turkey's KADES safety app nears 10 million downloads

The Interior Ministry’s KADES (Women’s Direct Security Line) app, launched in 2018, has been downloaded 9,859,147 times, approaching the 10‑million mark. Since its inception, the platform has received 239,356 alerts, of which 152,974 were verified as genuine and 86,382 were dismissed as false, meaning about 64 % of the reports were authentic. Users can activate a location‑enabled emergency button, prompting the nearest police unit to respond, and the app is available in Turkish plus ten other languages.

Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi emphasized that KADES provides a direct security link between women and the state, urging all women to install and keep the app active. He added that Turkey aims for a future in which no woman loses her life to violence. In parallel, an electronic bracelet system used to monitor gender‑based violence cases has tracked 13,803 incidents since 2021; 12,327 cases have been closed while 1,476 remain under active monitoring across 70 provinces.
