Konya Municipality Launches Robot Cemetery Care, Senior Culture Tours, and Fire‑Support Initiatives
The Konya Büyükşehir Belediyesi has introduced remote‑controlled grass‑cutting robots in its 115 city cemeteries. The machines work on steep and hard‑to‑reach terrain, can trim an area roughly four times faster than a crew of five with motorised mowers, and improve worker safety.
Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay also continues the "Hatırdan Hatıraya Kültür Turları" programme, offering free cultural tours for retirees in all 31 districts. More than 4,500 seniors have taken part, visiting sites such as Panorama Konya Museum, Mevlana Museum and other historic locations.
In response to the forest fire in Alanya, Antalya, Konya’s fire brigade dispatched six vehicles and 13 personnel to assist the emergency operations. The assistance was coordinated through the municipal disaster coordination centre.
Separately, the Konya Orman Bölge Müdürlüğü held a training session for about 242 beekeepers, teaching fire‑prevention techniques, first‑response actions and reporting procedures, and awarding certificates to participants.
