Turkey's Labor Minister Vedat Işıkhan reports 67,000 mothers benefit from 24‑week maternity leave extension

Labor and Social Security Minister Vedat Işıkhan announced that 67,709 mothers have taken advantage of the recent extension of maternity leave to 24 weeks in Turkey. Under the Social Services Law, maternity leave reports for three insurance categories were automatically extended: 32,214 for 4A (SSK), 1,711 for 4B (Bağ‑Kur) and 13,435 for 4C (Retirement Fund), totaling 47,360 automatic extensions.

In addition, 20,349 mothers submitted applications to extend their reports, and the ministry completed the processing for all applicants. As a result, 43 % of eligible mothers chose to extend their leave. By July 27, 46,918 insured women were eligible to apply for an extension, and the system continues to process both automatic and application‑based extensions.
