Turkey launches Manisa Altın Model to turn low‑value dried grapes into animal feed

The Sarıgöl Agricultural Chamber introduced the "Manisa Altın Model" to process low‑quality, seedless dried grapes that lack market value. The project will grind the grapes into a pellet‑suitable powder and add it at a rate of five parts per thousand to factory mixed feed for large and small ruminants. It targets the annual use of about 91,000 tonnes of dried grapes, creating a stable secondary market for grape growers and supplying a domestic raw material for the livestock feed industry.

Deputy chairman Sinan Gençeli said the scheme also supports a circular‑economy approach, reduces reliance on imported feed inputs, and may improve milk composition while lowering enteric methane emissions. Implementation will involve coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, local agricultural chambers and relevant industry bodies.

If fully adopted, the model could boost the Turkish agricultural economy, provide environmental benefits, and offer a new revenue stream for producers of seedless grapes in the Manisa region.
