Turkey's MHP Deputy Mustafa Kalaycı Calls for Pension System Overhaul

Mustafa Kalaycı, deputy chairman of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), said Turkey's pension system suffers from structural imbalances, noting that retirees with 30‑40 years of contributions receive similar benefits to those with only 10 years. He urged a fundamental overhaul to harmonise retirement benefits across the SSK, Bağ‑Kür and civil‑servant schemes, and to standardise the required contribution days.

Kalaycı also highlighted recent fiscal improvements, citing a stronger non‑interest cash balance after massive earthquake‑related spending. He argued that the improved budget position will enable the government to implement the needed pension reforms and better meet workers' expectations.
