Turkey's MİT captures ISIS member Uğur Bahadır in Afghanistan-Pakistan region

The Turkish National Intelligence Organization (MİT) conducted a cross-border operation in the Afghanistan-Pakistan region to capture Uğur Bahadır, an ISIS member known by the code name Abdullah. Bahadır, who reportedly joined the ISIS Khorasan Province (ISKP) in 2024 after traveling from Turkey, was apprehended and transferred to Turkey.

Following his capture, Bahadır provided information regarding his training in ISIS camps and his connections to other operatives. He identified Özgür Altun, code name Abu Yasir Al Turki, as the individual who managed the transfer of members from Turkey to the region. Altun had been previously captured in early 2025. Bahadır also reportedly worked alongside Ahmet Kazancı, code name Abu Ubeyde or Abu Ibrahim, who was captured in early 2026 and served in the ISIS media unit.

MİT stated that the operation successfully disrupted ISIS action plans targeting Turkey and exposed the group's recruitment and transfer networks. The agency also reported the seizure of strategic activity plans during the operation.
