Turkey's Monitoring and Evaluation Board to convene for first meeting

The Monitoring and Evaluation Board is scheduled to hold its first meeting to implement the Law on Strengthening National Solidarity and Social Integration. Chaired by Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, the board includes ministers of Justice, Foreign Affairs, Interior, and National Defense, alongside the heads of the National Intelligence Organization and the National Security Council General Secretariat.

The meeting will focus on establishing specialized sub-committees. The first planned sub-committee will oversee the disarmament process, including the location, timeline, and methods for the surrender of weapons and field verification mechanisms.

Additional structures are being developed to manage legal proceedings and social reintegration. A legal sub-committee, involving the Ministry of Justice, will classify the legal status of surrendering members, though final decisions on sentence deferrals remain with execution judges. Furthermore, a social cohesion and rehabilitation committee will be formed, involving experts from the Ministry of Family and Social Services and the Ministry of Health to support returning members. Implementation of these measures is contingent upon a National Security Council decision confirming the cessation of active hostilities by relevant groups.
