Turkey's Osmaniye Region Harvests First Domestic 'Dal Darı' Bird Feed

In the Kadirli district of Turkey's Osmaniye province, brothers Şaban Kayışoğlu and Yasin Kayışoğlu planted the experimental bird‑feed grain ‘dal darı’ on 100 decares in Hardallı village. The trial harvest yielded 300 kg of grain, half of the 600 kg expected due to adverse weather, and the product was sold abroad at US$4 per kilogram to Europe, the Middle East and Gulf markets.

District Governor Erdinç Dolu and Agriculture and Forestry Director Fatih Rüştü Özeser inspected the fields, noting the significance of replacing the previously imported Chinese supply with a locally produced alternative. Officials highlighted the potential for other farmers to adopt similar high‑value crops, aiming to diversify regional agriculture and increase export earnings.
