Turkey's oversight body recommends moving diabetic forest guard off open fields

A forest guard employed by the Kastamonu Forest Operations Directorate since 2020, who has Type 1 diabetes, filed a request with the Public Oversight Institution (Kamu Denetçiliği Kurumu, KDK) asking for a reassignment to duties compatible with his health condition. A medical report dated 24 December 2025 from Kastamonu Education and Research Hospital warned that strenuous outdoor work carries a high risk of severe hypoglycaemic attacks for the guard.

KDK examined the report and concluded that the guard should not be assigned to open‑field duties. It issued a recommendation to the General Directorate of Forestry to adjust his posting accordingly, citing the need for a work environment that matches his medical limitations.
