Turkey's President Erdoğan Announces Free Metro Service to Istanbul Airport Until July 31

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced that the Halkalı‑İstanbul Airport metro line will be free for all passengers until 31 July 2026. The decision was made during the line’s opening ceremony and aims to encourage use of the new rail link between the Halkalı district and Istanbul Airport.

The free‑ride period applies to all travelers on the service, after which regular fares will resume.
