Turkey's Seljuk-era monuments attract tourists as restoration projects boost sites

The historic Murat Bridge in Muş, a 143‑metre Seljuk stone bridge with twelve arches, has become a popular tourist destination. Local legend claims a gold cube was hidden in its foundation, fueling interest and occasional illegal digging attempts. Authorities have increased security and undertaken restoration work to preserve the bridge.

In Konya, the Meram Suriçi Çarşısı project features a geodesic glass dome that shelters the largest Seljuk bath ruins in the city. Opened in December 2025 with Minister Murat Kurum attending, the dome has drawn both local and out‑of‑town visitors, highlighting the blend of modern architecture and historic preservation. The site is promoted as a cultural landmark and a key attraction for the region's tourism.
