Turkey's SGK expert predicts no raise for retirees, extra pay only if early election
Social Security (SGK) specialist Emin Yılmaz told reporters that the salary changes scheduled for July will be an "improvement" aimed at offsetting inflation rather than a genuine raise for retirees and civil‑servants. He forecast inflation of 1.36% for June, 1.57% for July and 1.49% for August, with six‑month inflation around 9.26% and a year‑end total of 29.14%.
Yılmaz estimated that the inflation gap will amount to 18.26% for SSK/Bağ‑Kur retirees and 13.94% for civil‑servant retirees. He said no additional "seyyanen zam", "refah pay" or equalisation will be introduced unless an early election occurs at the start of the year, stating: "Şu anki tabloya baktığımızda refah payı veya eşitleme gibi bir iyileştirme maalesef düşünmüyorum. Ancak... erken seçim... o zaman bu tür iyileştirmeler..." He also noted that the minimum wage of 28,075 TL will not receive an interim increase in July.
