Turkey's SGK defines disability retirement criteria and July 2026 pension inflation payouts
The Social Security Institution (SGK) clarified that disability (malulen) retirement benefits are only granted when at least 60% of a worker's capacity is lost after the start of insurance coverage. Applicants must also have a minimum of ten years of contribution and 1,800 premium days. Those whose severe disability predates insurance can still qualify for an old‑age pension after completing 15 years of contributions and between 3,600 and 3,960 premium days. The minimum monthly benefit is set at 23,552 TL.
SGK also announced that inflation‑related pension adjustments for the July 2026 period will be deposited on 24 July 2026. Approximately 2.5 million retirees, disabled persons, widows and orphans will receive a total of 14.5 billion TL, with payment amounts varying according to whether beneficiaries receive their pension monthly or in three‑month blocks.
