Turkey lifts minimum pension to 23,552 lira starting July 2026
The Turkish Parliament approved a law that raises the statutory minimum retirement pension from 20,000 lira to 23,552 lira. The amendment was published in the Official Gazette and became effective for the July 2026 payment period. The Treasury will fund the shortfall between the old and new minimum amounts.
The same legislative package also amends rules on taxes, energy, tourism, transport, private‑education institutions, PTT and cybersecurity. The Social Security Institution (SGK) is expected to announce a timetable for the 3,552 lira difference owed to retirees receiving the minimum pension. Sources indicate the payment could be made in the first week of August 2026 and will affect roughly seven million SSK, Bağ‑Kur, 4A and 4B pensioners.
