Turkey Sets Record for Solar Electricity Generation in June

Turkey's Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources reported that solar power plants produced 4.99 billion kWh in June, the highest monthly output ever recorded. Solar energy accounted for 16.4 % of the country's total electricity generation, which reached a new peak of 30.35 billion kWh for the month. Renewable sources generated 20.65 billion kWh and domestic energy sources 24.22 billion kWh, both the highest monthly figures since 2000. Hydropower remained the largest single source with 10.54 billion kWh (34.7 % of total).

Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar highlighted the achievement as a sign of Turkey's accelerating renewable‑energy transition, driven by expanding solar capacity and seasonal sunshine. He reaffirmed the government's commitment to fully exploiting the country's solar potential to support economic growth and energy security. The first half of the year also set records, with hydro, wind and solar outputs reaching 57 billion, 21.5 billion and 19.2 billion kWh respectively.
