Turkey's State Opera and Ballet Announces Summer Ballet Festivals
The Turkish State Opera and Ballet Directorate is staging a series of summer ballet events. The International Bodrum Ballet Festival runs from 1 August to 17 August on the North Pier stage of Bodrum Castle, opening with Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake performed by İzmir State Opera and Ballet. The program also includes Carmina Burana (8‑9 August) by Antalya State Opera and Ballet, the Zorba ballet (4‑5 August) by Ankara State Opera and Ballet with music by Mikis Theodorakis, a modern‑dance piece Pinokyo.exe by the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet Modern Dance Group (16‑17 August), and two special works by the Kosovo National Ballet (12‑13 August).
Separately, the 2nd Denizli Opera and Ballet Days will take place on 8 August at the Hierapolis Ancient Theatre, featuring the Zorba ballet set to Theodorakis’s music. Free e‑tickets are available online, and organizers are providing complimentary entry to the Pamukkale archaeological site and shuttle buses from five city points to the venue.
