Turkey's ÖSYM changes YKS: one question cancelled, another answer updated

The Measuring, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) announced the final decision on two disputed items from the 2026 Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS). In the AYT Mathematics test, question 23’s answer key was corrected from “C” to “A”. In the Turkish Language and Social Sciences‑1 test, question 20 was deemed erroneous and cancelled. ÖSYM stated: “Matematik Testi… 23 numaralı sorunun ‘C’ olarak girilmiş cevabının ‘A’ olarak değiştirilmesine; 20 numaralı sorunun iptal edilmesine karar verilmiştir.” According to the exam’s guidelines, cancelled questions are omitted from scoring and the remaining questions’ point values are recalculated. The change affects roughly 2.5 million candidates, with revised scores to be released on 16 July 2026.
