Istanbul Grand Bazaar döner shop fined for 3,000 TL price

A shop in Istanbul’s historic Grand Bazaar attracted widespread attention after a video showed a sandwich döner being sold for 3,000 TL. The Ministry of Trade, together with the Istanbul Trade Directorate and Fatih Municipality police, inspected the premises. Inspectors found that 100 g of döner was priced at 600 TL and that four products showed signs of unfair price increases. They also noted that the price tags of 12 items lacked the required weight or volume information, violating the Price Labeling Regulation. The case was forwarded to the Unfair Price Increase Evaluation Board and the business received an administrative fine. Trade Ministry spokesperson Bekir Kaplan said, “We will continue inspections, especially in tourist areas, to protect consumers and ensure fair trade practices.”
