Turkey's Traveling Cinema project reaches all 81 provinces

The ‘Traveling Cinema for Children’ project, initiated by the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism’s General Directorate of Cinema in 2018, has reached all 81 provinces in Turkey. Over its eight-year duration, the initiative has brought the cinema experience to more than 1.5 million children across 681 districts.

In collaboration with the Sanat İçin Yola Çık Culture and Art Association and Türk Telekom, the project utilizes specially designed cinema trucks to reach towns, villages, and districts that lack permanent movie theaters. These trucks provide free film screenings to increase access to culture and the arts.

Due to high demand, the project's capacity was expanded for 2025. With support from Türk Telekom, the number of cinema trucks has increased to two, and the screening schedule has been widened to reach more locations. Beyond children, the project also hosts open-air screenings for all ages during the summer and conducts social responsibility activities in hospitals, prisons, and social service facilities for the elderly.
