Turkey's Türksat and Qatar's Es'hailSat sign satellite capacity partnership

Turkey’s state-owned satellite operator Türksat and Qatar‑based Es’hailSat signed a strategic agreement in Doha to share capacity on the planned Es’hail‑3/Türksat‑Biruni satellite. The high‑throughput Ka‑band satellite will operate in the 50° East geostationary slot and provide up to 50 Gbps of capacity for Türksat, financed by Qatar.

The partnership will enable the satellite to deliver broadband Internet, aviation, maritime and corporate data services across the Middle East, North Africa, Europe, Central Asia and Sub‑Saharan Africa. Frequency and orbital rights in the 50° East slot will remain with Turkey, and the satellite will be registered with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) under Türksat’s name. Both companies will jointly assess satellite assets, ground infrastructure and customer portfolios to optimise resource use and expand market reach.
