Turkish Aerospace chief says Turkey boosts NATO security architecture
Dr. Mehmet Demiroğlu, General Manager of Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ), addressed a Chatham House event in London titled “Ankara’dan Bakış: NATO Zirvesi’nin Güvenlik ve Savunma Etkileri”. Panel participants included NATO Parliamentary Assembly Secretary‑General Benedetta Berti, Chatham House International Security Programme Director Marion Messmer, former UK Defence Committee chair Tobias Ellwood, and Dr. Demiroğlu. He presented the “NATO 3.0” concept – a security paradigm based on a strong defence industry, sustainable production capacity, resilient supply chains, technological superiority and allied industrial cooperation. Demiroğlu argued that Turkey’s defence‑industry ecosystem, exemplified by the export of the HÜRJET unmanned aerial system to Spain, provides a strategic contribution to NATO’s future security architecture. He stressed that NATO’s collective deterrence relies on industrial capability, not merely on military force, and called for stronger transatlantic cooperation to enhance European security.
