Turkey's under-18 Private Pension System surpasses 2 million contracts

Interest in long-term financial planning for children is rising in Turkey, particularly through the Private Pension System (BES) for those under 18. As the new school year begins, parents are increasingly utilizing early-age savings to leverage the benefits of compound interest and government contributions.

As of August 2026, the number of BES contracts for individuals under 18 has exceeded 2 million, representing approximately 11% of total BES participants. This segment has seen a nearly 14% increase over the past year. Total BES contracts in Turkey have risen by 7.9% to 18.22 million, while the total size of BES funds has grown by 56% to 2.61 trillion lira.

Ayhan Sincek, General Manager of Katılım Emeklilik, noted that the 20% government contribution provides a significant advantage when combined with regular contributions and long-term investment performance.
