Turkey's Universities Rise in Global Rankings

The QS World University Rankings 2027 placed Istanbul Technical University (ITÜ) at 279, making it the highest‑ranked Turkish institution and overtaking Koç University (329) and Middle East Technical University (305). The ranking also listed five other Turkish universities inside the global top 500, including ODTÜ at 305 and Boğaziçi University at 345.

In the URAP 2025‑2026 World Ranking, Erciyes University surged 27 places to reach 996 globally and secured the 15th position among Turkish universities. The climb was driven by notable improvements in citation counts, publication impact and international collaboration, reflecting the university’s intensified research strategy.

Both rankings highlight a broader shift in Turkey’s higher‑education landscape, with several institutions gaining stronger international visibility and research performance.
