Turkey men's volleyball team breaks into world top‑10 after VNL success
At the 2026 FIVB Volleyball Nations League second stage in Gliwice, Poland, the Turkish men’s team defeated China 3‑0, fell 2‑3 to defending champion Poland, then rallied from 0‑2 down to beat Argentina 3‑2 and finished by beating Belgium 3‑0. The side ended the stage with five wins and three losses, placed seventh in the stage table and rose to ninth place in the FIVB world rankings – the first time Turkey has entered the top ten.
In the same tournament the Turkish women’s team won all four of their Ankara‑stage matches against Belgium, France, Germany and China, collecting 15 points and moving to third place in the world rankings with 362.35 points, overtaking the United States.
The men’s squad’s upcoming programme includes a match with Belgium later in the week and, from 8 July to 12 July, fixtures against Poland, the United States, Japan and Thailand. The women will travel to Osaka for the third stage, where they will meet Poland, the United States, Japan and Thailand.
