Turkey's Yeşilköy Waterfall draws 1.5 million visitors as new road project begins

The Yeşilköy Waterfall, located about 50 km from the town of Yahyalı in Kayseri Province, Turkey, is accessed via a 344‑step trail and has become a popular destination for nature lovers. Local officials say the site, dubbed “the Earth’s tears,” receives close to 1.5 million visitors each year. Yahyalı Mayor Esat Öztürk announced a joint effort with the Kayseri Governorate to build a 17‑kilometre road and viaduct that will allow cars to reach the waterfall’s edge, a project expected to raise annual visitor numbers to around 2.5 million. The development is part of a broader push to promote the district’s five major waterfalls as a tourism hub. Visitors from Germany and other parts of Turkey have praised the site’s scenery despite the challenging climb.
