Turkey's Youth Federation and MP Demand Prompt Domestic Violence Law

Naz Aktunç, secretary of the Youth Federation's Gender Studies Desk, condemned a knife attack on a woman in a Taşkınköy supermarket and called for the immediate enactment of a Domestic Violence Law. She emphasized that violence against women is a systemic issue requiring effective state protection, investigation and prevention measures, and warned against focusing on the perpetrator's nationality.

CTP MP Asım Akansoy echoed the call, stating that inadequate public policies are the root cause of gender‑based violence. He urged the government to expand shelters, strengthen protection mechanisms, redesign education for gender equality and adopt a zero‑tolerance approach, stressing that safeguarding women's right to life is a core duty of the social state.
