Turkish actor Burak Çelik returns to Istanbul amid drug probe

Turkish television star Burak Çelik cut short a family holiday in Antalya and flew to Istanbul on 16 July after authorities issued an investigation order. The Bakırköy Public Prosecutor’s Office is probing a broader case that involves 25 public figures from the arts, business and social‑media sectors, suspecting use, facilitation and provision of narcotic substances. Çelik presented himself at the General Command of the Gendarmerie, gave a statement and was released pending further legal steps.

The actor, known for roles in series such as “Yeraltı,” is slated to appear in the upcoming drama “Haysiyet.” He and his wife, Ece Bayrak, are expecting their first child, adding a personal dimension to the unfolding legal scrutiny.
