Turkish aviation festivals held in Selçuk and Sivrihisar

The Turkish Aeronautical Association (THK) hosted an aviation festival at the Selçuk Efes Airport in İzmir on September 12-13. The event featured public flights, parachute demonstrations, aerobatic displays, and paramotor shows aimed at promoting aviation interest among the Turkish public.

Key highlights included high-altitude parachute jumps where instructors opened a large Turkish flag and a poster of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in the sky. The festival also included model aircraft activities and jumps from a CN-235 CASA search and rescue aircraft. THK General President Akın Ünal expressed intentions to make the festival a traditional annual event to inspire younger generations.

Additionally, preparations are underway for the SHG Airshow 2026, scheduled for September 19-20 at the Sivrihisar Aviation Center. This internationally recognized event will feature the Turkish Stars aerobatic team, historical aircraft from World War II, and performances by professional pilots, including Turkey’s first female professional aerobatic and helicopter pilot, Semin Öztürk Şener.
