Turkish Aeronautical Association Museum showcases aviation history in Ankara

The Turkish Aeronautical Association Museum in Ankara has introduced a renewed concept to showcase the history of Turkish aviation from the Ottoman Empire to the present day. Located on Hipodrom Street near the 19 May Stadium, the museum features a dedicated section for Nuri Demirağ, recognized as Turkey’s first private sector aviation entrepreneur.

The museum complex includes a 286-square-meter indoor area and a 9,294-square-meter outdoor area. Notable features include the Historic Parachute Tower, opened in 1937 by Prime Minister Celal Bayar and registered as a monument by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, as well as an open-air area displaying original aircraft.

Exhibits are divided into two main sections: “Our Aviators and Firsts,” which highlights key figures and milestones, and a section dedicated to the activities of the Turkish Aeronautical Association from its founding to the present. The museum is open to visitors six days a week and offers free admission.
