Turkish aerospace firms advance HÜRJET and HÜRSAT-2 projects
Turkish aerospace and defense companies are expanding their international cooperation and space capabilities. At the IDA TÜRKİYE 2026 event in Ankara, Defense Industry President Haluk Görgün announced a strategic partnership with Spain regarding the HÜRJET aircraft. Under this agreement, initial versions of the HÜRJET will be produced by TUSAŞ, while a subsequent version will be developed in collaboration with Spanish subcontractors to meet local needs and serve NATO allies.
In the space sector, TUSAŞ and ROKETSAN signed an agreement for the HÜRSAT-2 satellite project during the International Astronautical Congress in Antalya. The project is part of a modular satellite family designed for various missions with weights ranging from 200 to 650 kg. The HÜRSAT-1 optical-observation satellite is targeted for launch in mid-2027, followed by HÜRSAT-2 aboard the ŞİMŞEK-1 launch vehicle in 2028–2029.
