Turkish agencies partner for reforestation and forest fire prevention

The State Hydraulic Works (DSİ) 24th Regional Directorate and the Erzurum Forestry Regional Directorate have signed a cooperation protocol focused on afforestation and forest fire prevention. The initiative, aimed at protecting the ‘Green Homeland,’ has officially commenced with the planting of the first saplings.

Under the agreement, reforestation efforts will specifically target the areas surrounding dams and ponds managed by the DSİ. The project aims to increase green spaces, support natural habitats, and enhance environmental sustainability. Beyond planting, the partnership includes strategies for erosion control, soil conservation, and the environmental improvement of water basins.

Additionally, the two institutions will coordinate to strengthen preventive measures against forest fires. By working together, the agencies intend to reduce fire risks and protect natural resources for future generations.
