Turkish Airlines and Zero Waste Foundation sign sustainability protocol

Turkish Airlines (THY) and the Zero Waste Foundation have signed a “Strategic Cooperation Protocol” to enhance environmental sustainability within the aviation sector. The partnership focuses on key areas including zero waste, circular economy, resource efficiency, and combating climate change.

The agreement aims to manage cabin and passenger-related waste, prevent food waste, and reduce the airline's carbon footprint. A major component of the collaboration involves promoting Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) and supporting domestic SAF production projects to develop a robust ecosystem.

To increase passenger awareness, Turkish Airlines will share informative content regarding sustainable living and zero waste through digital channels and on selected flights. The two organizations also plan to collaborate on international platforms, including the Zero Waste Forum and preparations for COP31. This initiative aligns with Turkish Airlines' goal to reach carbon neutrality by 2050 and supports Turkey's 2053 net-zero target.
