Turkish Airlines announces 420-aircraft growth strategy
Turkish Airlines Chairman and Executive Committee President Prof. Dr. Murat Şeker has unveiled a comprehensive growth and modernization strategy for the airline. A central component of this plan involves approximately 420 firm aircraft orders from Boeing and Airbus over the next decade. While a portion of these orders will be used to renew the existing fleet, the plan is expected to result in a 6% increase in available seat kilometers (ASK) capacity.
Rather than focusing solely on adding new destinations, the airline aims to expand its presence in existing markets, particularly through increased flight frequencies. Şeker noted that 90% of the company's growth will stem from current routes, with a specific emphasis on increasing capacity for long-haul flights to East Asia and South America. Over the next 20 years, the airline anticipates adding approximately 30 new cities to its network.
In addition to fleet expansion, Turkish Airlines is prioritizing cabin product innovation and digitalization. This includes the development of the Crystal Business Class suite and Premium Economy projects, aimed at gaining greater control over the passenger experience and maintaining profitability margins during organic growth.
