Turkish Airlines expands Vietnam operations with high occupancy rates

Turkish Airlines is significantly expanding its presence in the Vietnamese market, reporting a 92% average occupancy rate on its Vietnam routes. Most passengers utilize Istanbul Airport as a transit hub to connect to Europe, North America, and other global destinations.

The airline achieved a 30% increase in passenger numbers on its Vietnam routes in 2025 and projects an additional 11% growth by the end of 2026. Following an aviation memorandum signed in August 2026, which allows for up to 42 weekly passenger frequencies between the two nations, the carrier plans to increase its weekly flights to 21 by January 2027.

In terms of logistics, Turkish Airlines aims to increase its cargo volume to 60,000 tons by the end of 2026, up from approximately 53,000 tons in 2025. Key cargo categories include electronics, industrial products, machinery, and textiles. The airline currently operates these routes using Airbus A350-900 and Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.
